For the last six years Ben has paid tribute to Elvis Presley, The King of Rock N Roll, with his first performance being at the age 15 at his local town festival in Surrey, England. Previous to this, Ben has been an Elvis fan from the young age of 7 and Elvis has always played a huge part in his life. From the success of his first ever performance in 2009, Ben chose to have a career as an Elvis tribute artist.
After two years of working on his performance and portrayal of Elvis whilst performing all over the country, Ben chose to enter his first every competition in January 2011. His performances over that weekend during the contest were seen as a great success of his merge into the Elvis tribute world and people saw that there were great things to come from Ben in the future. In April of the same year, Ben won the People’s Choice award in the Images of the King UK contest, winning his first award as an Elvis Tribute. In September 2011, Ben was voted as the Best 50’s Elvis at the Porthcawl Elvis Festival.
Over the next year, Ben’s performance grew from strength to strength, gaining the respect of thousands of Elvis fans and performing his tribute all over the country. In 2012, Ben entered the Best festival Elvis competition at the Porthcawl Elvis festival and gained first place, Ben’s first win as an Elvis tribute artist.
2013 was Ben’s most significant year so far. He entered the Europe’s Tribute to Elvis competition, which would be Ben’s first attempt at qualifying for Elvis Presley Enterprises Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest held in Memphis, Tennessee. Ben was daunted by the size of the occasion, but with a very successful run of performances over the weekend, Ben became the Europe’s Tribute to Elvis Champion of 2013, therefore qualifying for Memphis. As part of the winning prize, Ben was able to play Elvis Presley in a production named ‘If I Can Dream’ at the Lowry Theatre, Salford, which Ben took great pride in doing. This would be Ben’s first ever time in Memphis, TN, the home of Elvis Presley. Ben’s first attempt at the Ultimate Contest saw him gain a top five place out of 30 competitors. Ben says ‘I was overwhelmed to just be in Memphis, but to have made the top five at my first year at the Ultimate contest was just beyond what I could have ever hoped for’.
Behind the scenes of the contests, Ben was working hard at his tribute every day but also working on producing a theatre show, which he named ‘The Definitive tribute to Elvis’ which later became the ‘Definitive Elvis Experience’. This show covered the whole career of Elvis and sold out on its debut performance at the Regis Centre, Bognor Regis. This show has continued to be a huge success and has sold out on every performance to date.
2014 started with a bang for Ben as he was cast as Elvis Presley in the hit show ‘Rockin on Heavens door’ which toured Holland and Belgium over a 7 week period performing 35 shows. This was Ben’s debut theatre tour and he was received very well by the Dutch and Belgian Elvis fans so much so that he was asked to come back for another tour in 2015.
Tupelo, MS is the birthplace of Elvis Presley and Ben competed in the Tupelo Ultimate Elvis contest 2014 to once again qualify for the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist contest in Memphis, TN. Ben took the city of Tupelo by storm and the people of Tupelo took Ben to their hearts. Completely in awe of the birthplace of his idol, Ben became Tupelo’s Ultimate Elvis champion 2014 and had the absolute honour of representing Tupelo in the Ultimate contest in August of that year. Ben returned to Tupelo just before the Ultimate contest for the final preparations. During this time he was celebrating his 21st birthday in which the Mayor of Tupelo gave Ben the key to the city. Ben explains that ‘This was the most truly unbelievable gift anyone has ever given to me and the people of Tupelo will always be in my heart’.
The Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest 2014 saw Ben returning to Memphis, TN once again with an incredible amount of support of so many people all over the world. Ben competed in the contest with the attitude of ‘I’m going to have fun and just do my best’. Ben’s performances this year gained him 2nd place and he was extremely proud to say that he had achieved that.
After returning home from Memphis, Ben was awarded the Best 68 Comeback Special Elvis at the Porthcawl Elvis festival which topped off an extremely successful year for Ben.
So far this year, Ben has returned to Holland for the 80th Anniversary Concert which toured Holland and Belgium for 12 weeks which included 50 shows, this was the biggest Elvis tour Europe has ever seen. As he finished this tour, Ben went directly to the USA to try and qualify once again for the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest. Ben took first place at the Branson Elvis Festival in Branson, MO, the home of Legends in Concert. Ben says ‘This was an absolute thrill to be a part of and to say I won was amazing’. In August, Ben returns to Memphis, TN once again to compete for the coveted title of the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist.
Ben is one of few Tributes that can replicate every era of Elvis, with the exhilarating pinpoint movement of the 50’s as well as the overwhelming charisma of the 60’s and 68 NBC special, through to the phenomenal stage presence of the 70’s, with his superb vocal range emulating the greatest entertainer of all time.
Ben’s Performance is a fully professional and respectful tribute to Elvis Presley and takes much pride in his stage appearance with authentic costumes and clothing tailored by the same company as Elvis used. Ben loves performing to audiences across the world and always leaves the audience wanting more.
In 2016 Ben won the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist contest preliminary heat at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Sioux City and will represent them in Memphis during Elvis Week 2016 in the Semifinal round of the Ultimate contest. In the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest Finals in Memphis Ben finished second.
